Yesterday I was riding my bike home from downtown Columbus to my new digs in Victorian Village and was hit by a car. Yeah, hit by a ton or two of slow moving plastic and metal. I’m totally fine. Not hurt at all. This story isn’t about getting hit by a car. But it starts with being hit by a car- a white, shiny, new Chevy with a very tough front grill.
So after getting hit by the car, and riding away, I was kind-of in a haze. Adrenaline was pumping through my veins and it was hard to get my head straight for a few hours. When I did finally get my head right, I decided it was time to get out of town for a little while and do some of the things I’d be meaning to do. I could have died or been mangled, or worse afterall…
So today I took a bus down to Athens, Ohio. Southern Ohio has these nice rolling hills and for some reason it’s 60 degrees today. To my winter-weather beaten soul and skin, 60 degrees feels like swimming weather.
Which brings me to the title of this story- “The Fun Thing about being a Web Designer”. And for me, right now, the fun thing is being able to drop everything and head south for a few days to clear my mind and still being able to do my job. Nowadays, in almost every city in the World, I’ve got an office. For this job, all I need is a few hours, a cup of coffee, and a comfortable place to relax and work. You know, a coffee shop.
Athens happens to have one of the best coffee shops in the World, and certainly the best in Ohio (it’s actually official).
Here’s a picture of one of their many rooms:

With this type of freedom, it’s a wonder one could have a job that requires you to be in one place all day long. I thank my lucky stars, and my clients, for affording me the privilege to do so. Thank you!
