Why Get a Blog?

Blogs have really taken off in the last few years. Whether used for connecting with family, engaging clients in a personal way, or as a way to spread your message, there is no better way than a blog. Blogs are simple to use and let you spend your time living and writing without the worries. In fact, the only hard part of having a blog is getting it setup and configured to be just the way you want it. That’s why I’m here.

What goes into installing, customizing, and setting up a Blog?

The whole process of taking your idea from a blog and turning it into a full-featured powerhouse of a website takes about a day. There are three things that go into getting your blog ready for it’s debut:

1. Get Hosting (What is hosting?)
2. Choose a domain name (You do this after getting the hosting)
3. Setup the Blog (I’ll do this for you)

Why should I get this instead of signing up for one of those “free blog” sites?

Some people choose to go with the “free blog sites” in the spur of the moment. The bad news is that if you plan to invest much of any time or effort into your blog, the downsides of “free blogging sites” quickly outweigh the benefits. Getting a “free blog” at one of those sites is like buying a new car with the engine welded shut. What types of drawbacks are there with the “free blog” sites?

1. Many of the upgrades, plugins, and website templates that we give you standard aren’t even possible on the “free blog” sites.
2. Your domain name is harder to remember because instead of having www.yoursite.com it has to be www.yoursite.blogger.com. It’s a small difference, but it’s just so much easier to remember a shorter domain name!
3. We’ll give you an email address that you can use too that looks like this: yourname@yourdomain.com. It’s a nice professional and classy email address that promotes your website every time you send an email. Try getting this from a “free blog” site!

How much does the Blog Setup and Installation cost?

Zip. Zero. Zilch. Nothing, nada. It is absolutely and totally free.

How is it free?

The Blog setup, installation, and customization is free because Dreamhost awards me a referral fee for introducing them to a new customer.

What will the Blog look like, and how do I make it do all sorts of cool tricks?

Every blog comes with 83 different “themes” (looks) that you can change with the click of a button. It really couldn’t be more easy. Maybe you want your blog to have RSS feeds, automatically delete spam, and iron your clothes for you? You’ll find many plugins already installed for you that can be turned on with the push of a button. Sorry, no ironing though.

How do we get started?

It’s easy! All you have to do is sign up for Hosting (What is hosting?) with Dreamhost and then fill out the form below with your confirmation information. If you are ready to get started and have 8 minutes, then follow the simple process below and I can get started immediately.

The 8 Minute Start-Up Process with Pictures…

I made a promise to you above that this process wouldn’t take any technical skills, so I’ve included a Step-by-Step guide to getting your new blog installed complete with screenshots!
Step 1: Go to Dreamhost and get an account with them for Hosting.

You’ll have to use the special link I give you to sign-up so that Dreamhost knows I sent you over. To head over to Dreamhost, click on this link to Dreamhost (this link will open in a new page, so you can still follow these instructions as we go along).

Step 2: Wait a couple of minutes for Dreamhost to email you your new login, password, and “Welcome” email. Go to your email website, and open up that email.Step 3: Forward the email from Dreamhost along to me.There are two ways you can do this. You can either… a) Forward the email from Dreamhost to Rawwebdesign@gmail.com while including your name and address and contact info in the top part of the email or… b) Use the form below to send it along to me. The picture below the form will tell you where to put everything.

Who is the Brains Behind this Whole Operation?

It might be a stretch to call me the “brains” of the operation. My name is Brad Spencer and I’ve been working (and falling in love with) Wordpress for about three years now. Most of my work is centered around Search Engine Optimization, Customizing Wordpress, and also Social Media Optimization.

Feel free to check out my blog, seo services, or contact me. I’d love to hear from you!
